"Before I joined the club I was terrified of standing up in front of an audience, to the extent that my mouth would tremble and my hands shake. I can thoroughly recommend joining the club as a way of getting rid of your fears and building up your skills. Being able to speak in public is an asset in many walks of life, and joining a club like Clarkston enables you to learn the techniques in a supportive and friendly atmosphere"

"It took me a couple of meetings before I realised just how well the club could help. I now feel much more confident and really enjoy our meetings. This is also helped by being with a great bunch of people"

In work we had team meetings in which everyone was encouraged to give their views on how to improve the section. I often sat thinking of something but when asked my point of view I would feel the blood running to my extremities and the feeling of butterflies raced out of control. What came out of my mouth was a series of um's and ah's that meant nothing. (even redder face and frustration ruled)
The speakers club has, through listening and practical development meant that very quickly I could contribute to the team meeting. My confidence quickly grew so that I could run elements of the meeting. The blood still runs to my body's extremities but the feeling of butterflies remain in control. I enjoy being able to contribute to the many topics of the meetings.
